FAQ’s

Am I able to ‘commission’ you for a specific painting?

In many cases YES! …If there is a fit with my style and your interest.  I have taken painting requests on commission. If you are interested, then we should have a discussion to explore whether I am the right artist for your piece.

How much do you charge for a commission?

My pricing will depend on factors including the size of the canvas, the complexity of the subject, and the time involved in creating it. We will discuss these in our initial conversation.

What is the process involved with a commissioned piece from you?

First, after we agree that I am the right artist for your desired work, we will discuss terms. Those will include pricing and a schedule for check-ins and completion.  A contract with a non-refundable deposit of 50% will be issued before work begins. This covers securing materials and committed time.  Final payment is due when you have approved of your piece. Because of art shows and other paintings in process, I typically will only accept 1-2 commissions at a time.

How long will it take for me to have my commissioned painting completed?

Timeframes for completion will depend on variables including size and complexity of the work and other art commitments that may already in place. Most will range between 1-3 months.  I will do my best to be flexible for your needs. I will want enough time to ensure you will be happy with the end result.

Where can I view some of your work in person?

You can visit my studio by appointment any day of the week, during the St Petersburg ArtWalk on Second Saturdays 5-9 pm or during studio open hours.  Additionally, some of my paintings are frequently on exhibit in galleries throughout Tampa Bay. You can find exhibitions I am participating in on the “Events” Page.

How does shipping work if I am unable to pick up my artwork in person?

Shipping rates are variable and I do my best to control and balance the shipping cost with reliable and secure delivery.  Lately shipping costs have been fluctuating by the carriers due to fuel and transportation costs and affect their pricing.  I use FedEx and UPS as my preferred carriers for domestic shipments. I use DHL for International shipping.

Do I pay a shipping cost for each item in my order?

As long as all of the items can be securely packed in a single box or rigid mailer, you will only be charged one shipping charge for the entire order. For some multiple item orders and larger pieces, the carrier may provide a shipping quote that we can be discuss prior to final payment being collected.

Why do some items list as 2 weeks and some as 3 weeks for delivery timeframes?

The timeframes allow for production, cataloguing and preparation of the order.  Some of the giclées will need to be ordered, hand embellished and dried fully prior to packaging for shipment. Some of that time also may allow for customization according to your preferences in a piece that will be embellished.

Do you do Pet Portraits? What is the cost?

Yes!  I have done many pet portraits and love capturing the spirit of your loved animal family members – both vibrantly alive and as a meaningful memorial.  What is most important is for me to have a few good quality photos showing the pet’s eyes clearly.  And, the rest just comes. The cost is dependent upon variables such as size and complexity and the number of animals in the artwork created.  All of that will be discussed prior to the agreement to begin your work.

What is your painting style? How long have you been painting? Do you have formal training?

I am a self-taught artist.  I credit my ability to create paintings as a gift from God and I cherish my ability to share it with you.  My style varies by inspiration and it has been described as ranging from abstract, impressionistic, realism, and pointillism.  The style comes as I create a painting – often times the painting changes from when it begins until the final image is ready to be signed.  Some paintings take many days or weeks to complete – and others can happen in a single session. I paint when I feel the inspiration and never know what the brush and canvas will bring until it appears.

What caused you to become an Artist?

I spent many years in school and my corporate career – all but forgetting I always had a love of art and occasionally would draw.  I hadn’t picked up a paintbrush since my pre-school years until recently and the gift reappeared.  After encouragement from many who have seen my work, I set up my business and opened my studio. The reason I paint, is I love to see people’s reactions to my work.  Sometimes a painting is personal and only for me – but many times I liked to share my art.  My most rewarding experiences are having discussions about what a viewer sees in a painting I have made, and comparing it to what I was thinking or feeling when I made it. Perspective is so individual.  I also truly get touched when one of my paintings sparks an emotion – which could be a smile, surprise or even tears.  I hope you enjoy seeing some of my work and it brings a smile!
